Barbados salaries highest

SOME OF BARBADOS’ business bosses, and others lower down the country’s corporate ladder, have the highest salaries in the Caribbean.
On average, companies here pay above market value for more than half of 30 job roles examined in PayPulse 2023, a Caribbean salary survey published by The Caribbean Society for Human Resource Professionals (CSHRP) in Jamaica found.
An examination of annual gross salaries excluding benefits and incentives, found that Barbados, Antigua & Barbuda, and Jamaica are the highest paying countries.
Barbados pays above market value for 16 of the 30 surveyed roles, which amounts to 53.3 per cent, while Antigua & Barbuda and Jamaica do so for five and four of the 30, amounting to 16.7 per cent and 13.3 per cent respectively, the research concluded.
The report outlined that five roles were common to Barbados, Antigua and Barbuda and Jamaica – chief executive officer (CEO), accountant, administrative assistant, customer service representative and human resources (HR) manager.
Barbados tops the ranking for basic annual salary for CEO (US$75 000), accountant (US$33 843) and administrative assistant (US$15 107). It was second most for HR manager (US$29 501) and joint second for customer service representative (US$8 938).
The common annual basic salaries for Antigua and Barbuda were CEO (US$62 244), HR manager (US$37 414), accountant (US$26 090), administrative assistant (US$13 704), and customer service representative (US$11 552).
For Jamaica, it was CEO (US$58 597), HR manager (US$26 658), accountant (US$19 140), administrative assistant (US$9 491), and customer service representative (US$8 938).
Another annual basic salary listed for Barbados was chief financial officer (US$52 194).
